Neil Friedman is a board certified ophthalmologist and fellowship trained refractive surgeon who specializes in cataract and refractive surgery. He has participated in laser research since 1991, authored numerous scientific papers, book chapters, and articles on cataract and refractive surgery, and has published a widely read ophthalmology textbook. In addition, he is frequently invited to lecture at national meetings and instruct colleagues in the latest microsurgical techniques.
Dr. Friedman attended Dartmouth College where he graduated Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa. He received his medical degree from Harvard Medical School. After finishing his ophthalmology residency at the New York Eye & Ear Infirmary, Dr. Friedman completed a fellowship in corneal and refractive surgery at Baylor College of Medicine. He is a former refractive and cataract surgeon at the world renowned Cleveland Clinic and NFL team ophthalmologist for the Cleveland Browns. He has performed thousands of eye surgeries and has performed LASIK on other physicians.
Dr. Friedman is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a member of the American Academy of Cataract & Refractive Surgery. He serves on several subcommittees of the AAO for refractive surgery and is a member of the editorial board of a peer-reviewed ophthalmology journal. Dr. Friedman has acted as a medical consultant for ophthalmic device corporations and has designed surgical instruments. He also devotes time to resident and medical student education.
