I live in southeastern PA, and had LASIK surgery 13 days ago at a local Lasik Plus facility. I have colleagues who had been treated there and were very happy with the results. Now on to my experience.
After the laser portion of the procedure, the doctor spent a good deal of time on my right eye, as there was apparently a particle lodged under the corner of the flap. He spent a while hitting it with squirts of fluid, but eventually used a burst of air and it came right out. At the post-op exam the next morning, I complained that I had some doubling in my right eye, and he examined it and said there were some wrinkles in the flap. He stated that the large volume of fluid he used to dislodge the particle likely caused some swelling, and subsequent irregular settling of the flap that night. He pulled the flap back, and re-smoothed it for quite a while. The following morning he stated that the wrinkles were gone, despite the double vision I was still experiencing in my right (dominant) eye. He was able to correct the doubling and sharpness with a lense after a standard exam. He then stated that I had about 1.5 diopters of astigmatism in my right eye, and that he could just take me back and "tap it out" with the laser, but that it was better to let it heal up over 60-90 days.
It may be important to mention that I do have some blood that has pooled around the incision area, but outside of the corneal area, as they ruptured a lot of capallaries during the suction part of the surgery (before they cut the flap). In addition, they had numerous problems maintaining the vaccum on my left eye to create the flap, and had to do the suction 4 times, with my eye at various angles. They stated that it was due to largeish folds on my left eye, which were interfering with the suction ring on the blade carrier thing. Despite that complication, the left eye is in pretty good shape visually, though there is twice as much blood still present.
I was curious if I should have another doctor take a look at my eyes, to be certain that I don't have any remaining flap problems. I am also somewhat alarmed at the level of astigmatism in my right eye. Pre-op, my correction was -1.5(left) and -1.25(right), with minimal astigmatism. I have a 2 week followup on Thursday, and I may request copies of my charts so that I can go see another doctor.
As with most others, I'm having glare and halos at night, but relatively sharp images with my let eye. My right eye has a little more glare/halos, doubling on anything further away than 2', and a little blurryness. I cannot read much with my right eye, and it interferes a bit since it is dominant.
I would like advice on what my next steps should be, and I'd like to catch any issues as early as possible to avoid permanent complications.
Thanks
Ed

I went in for my 2 week follow up visit, and it turns out that my right eye has decreased to 1.0 diopters of astigmatism. Good news it seems, lets see if it goes back to where it needs to be as things heal up.
