I have an OD microscopic full-thickness central corneal scar from a penetrating eye injury as a child w/o resultant amblyopia. This did not bother me until college when the scar induced irregular astigmatism. I've had AK which moderately improved symptoms but some astigmatism still persists distorting images and causing ghosting. It severely affects my life and studying abilities. I'm a medical student and if I ever get fixed it'll be good motivation to go into ophthomology and help others in my situation.
My prescription is:
OD: +0.75 -1.50 115
OS: +0.75 -0.25 095
I'm excited about the newer wavefront technology but understand that the central scar may be a contraindication eventhough hyperopic procedures treat the periphery. I'm willing to do just about anything to feel normal again but also understand the value in waiting for the technology before making rash decisions. Any comments or individuals with similiar problems would be appreciated!
