I had RK on both eyes 10 years ago. It was an incredible improvement. I had some of the expected starburst effect but it hasn't been problematic. In the past two years I noticed my vision getting progressively worse. It is now 20/40 in one eye and 20/50 in the other, but can't be corrected. This concerns me because I was informed that in the state of FL one has to have vision of at least 20/40 in one eye. I recently had color topography image of cornea to see if I was eligible for lasik or something to correct the vision. My cornea was thick enough and pupil large enough. However, after several hours of trying to get an image they were unable to get one due to the irregular astigmatism from the RK. They were hoping to do lasik using sofware that just got passed last week. They told me that I can't have the surgery because they can't get an image and that my vision may continue to deteriorate because the astigmatism will/may (?) continue to progress. Is there anything that can be done to prevent this? I have ordered a pair of gas permeable contacs. This may help correct vision in one eye but not the other. Is there an eye clinic in the US that could help me? Thank you so much.
