My D.O. just told me that my eyes are changing shape. He said that I have always had an astigmatism, but that my eyes are turning on themselves. He did a topography and he that that my contact lens are causing my eyes to flatten and that it is not at a dangerous level yet, but that he will do another scan in a week and then he will write a new script for glasses and that I will either have to wear glasses or have Lasik surgery, but no more contacts. I thought Lasik flattened your corneas? What is going on with my eyes and is Lasik my best option?

are your contacts not comfortable anymore? If you got corneal flattening, you may have been wearing hard contacts or orthoK. Soft contacts do very, very little to flatten the cornea. Whats your pescription?

I am not sure of my prescription, but I do wear soft contacts. The kind you throw away every month. I will be getting another topography this week.

look on the box of your contacts to find out your pescription. Another way to find out is measure how far away you can read. If you cant see at all from near, your farsighted or have high astigmastim. If you can read from 13 inches away perfectly clear, your a -3. If you can see further than that, your a low myope and your dependancy on glasses likewise will be low
