I ended up with mixed astigmatism in one eye after my lasik procedure. I saw on the Visx site some white papers on using their laser to correct this. When will this process be available/approved in the US?

At this point mixed asstigmatism is difficult to treat with any laser. I believe that VISX's software will be approved by the end of this year (I hope).
There are several techniques that allow us to treat mixed astigmatism by breaking it down into its components, and I am told they work well. I haven't yet used these techniques, because my patients are currently content to wait for the software upgrade.
I would suggest you speak to your surgeon about his or her level of comfort with the above techniques. What is your current refraction now?
God Luck
