I had lasik 2 days ago to correct farsightedness and astigmatism using the VISX Star S4 laser. My close vision (under three feet) is decent, but everything far away is worse than before the procedure. I have bad double vision and general blurryness. I know it is too soon to panic and understand that my eyes have alot of healing to do but I am already getting worried. I had my first follow up appointment yesterday and the doctor who saw me seemed a bit concerned and made me schedule a second followup sooner than the originally planned second followup. I will see the doctor next monday and was wondering if anyone had any advice on what I should ask, what tests the doctor should be performing, and if there are any specific tests I should ask them to perform. To further explain what I am seeing, it is double vision with each eye independantly, both in bright and dim light with the further the distance the more seperated the images get. Therefore when I look at the license plate of the car I am following I see a slightly transparent end on the left, a solid white rectangle in the middle, and another slightly transparent end on the right, with a jumble of unreadable letters in the middle. looks like: [[$%@*]]. If I relax my eye lids to the point that my eyes are almost closed it improves to a greater distance. When I looked at the eye chart at my first followup V's looked like W's and was only able to easily recognize the second row, but with squinting and logical reasoning I could pretty much read the fourth row. The doctor said my eyes were a bit dry so I've been dousing them with Systane every 30-45 minutes with no improvement. I have a large (about half the size of a dime) red spot in the white area above my left pupil, but have no pain or discomfort. It seems kind of like my original astigmatism only worse. Does anyone have sugesstions for my followup appointment?
Thanks
-Luke
