I had lasik about 2.5 years ago. I am not sure if Custom Ablasion (not sure of spelling) is available now but my topo was a bit abnormal pre-op. Glasses could not fix my problem. Now, my left eye has ghosting and severe blurryness which is almost unbearable. I did have an enhancement six months post op which really didn't change anythign. It has been getting slowly worse since the operation and glasses do not help at all. Can custom ablasion fix my problem or might there be something else wrong? Also, when will custom ablasion be available? Is there a greater risk with having more surgury?

Custom wavefront-guided ablation (http://www.usaeyes.org/faq/subjects/wavefront_custom_lasik.htm) is available and has been used to provide Complex Wavefront Retreatment (CWR) for patients who have had previous outcome problems. CWR is not, however, appropriate for everybody and all surgery has risk.
I am concerned that you appear to have a progressive degradation in vision quality. You describe ghosting that is getting worse. This may be indicative of a more serious problem than just refractive error. I very highly recommend that you seek the opinion of a cornea specialist to determine if there is something more going on here.
Additionally, you say that your vision cannot be corrected with glasses. Spectacles do a very good job of correcting refractive error with healthy eyes. Conventional refractive surgery normally cannot provide better results than those you get with glasses. This too indicates that you need a second opinion.
If you need help in finding someone for a second opinion, let us know. You will probably need to travel to Seattle, but there may be someone in Tacoma who is appropriate. Feel free to contact me directly at glenn dot hagele at usaeyes dot org.

I actually have the same kind of problem. I had a LASIK operation 4 years ago and right after the operation I noticed that my vision was not right. My topography shows that my corneas are distorted, especially my left eye, and ghosting is severly annoying. My right eye can be corrected with a lens but not my left eye. My optometrist said that my left eye has VERY strong astigmatism which I didn't have before the operation. The worst thing I'm facing is, like Sean, my left vision is deteriorating over time. Sean, have you seen a specialist? Can you kindly tell me what the specialist said? Does anybody know what the reason for this deterioration could have been?

The experience of one patient is valuable to the extent that it illustrates what CAN happen, but every person is unique. Whatever a corneal specialist finds with Sean's eyes does not under even the wildest of imagination mean that the same disgnosis would occur for you, Anna.
You, like Sean, need to see a corneal specialist who hopefully will be able to determine exactly what is wrong and what is needed for correction.
