I had lasik done 6 weeks ago. I had quite a bit of astigmatism in the left eye before surgery. Three weeks after the surgery I went for a check-up. At that visit my vision was 20/15 in the right eye and 20/20 in the left eye. Now one month later the vision is 20/20 in the right eye and 20/30 in the left eye. I have some astigmatism left over after the surgery it seems, however the Dr. says to wait 6 more weeks to see what happens. My question is can I expect this astigmatism to clear up in that time or does it look like I definitly will have to be enhanced? I don't understand how it can change if it is showing now that I do have a little astigmatism left over after the surgery. Please help me understand! Could it possible go back to 20/15 and 20/20 with no astigmatism showing in a few weeks. Thank you for your response in advance

Variations in refractions after LASIK can take time to stabalize and you need to take your doctor's advice and RELAX about this. Yes, I have had patients who have some return of astigmatism shortly after surgery to then have it decrease significantly a few months later. Sometimes astigmatism can "return" after a few months. No conclusions can be drawn until at least three months have elapsed. This is why enhancement is usually not done before this time. This is all part of the healing process. You need to let it happen without obsessing about it. Good luck!
