I've heard the claim that central islands often resolve on their own, but I've also seen a lot of postings by people whose islands have not resolved. I'd LOVE to hear from others whose central islands resolved - how long it took, how long before they noticed real improvement in their vision, etc.
Feel free to either post a response or email me at . Also, if any doctors could respond with a percentage of their patients whose central islands resolved on their own, that would be helpful. Thanks!

I have double vision (ghosting images on top of & just below letters on signs). Stop signals are like two blobs, one on top of another. They said it might be a central island. As for it resolving itself, I had my surgery 9-18 & I still have it. It seemed to get worse (the ghosting image was darker, rather than a dim image), & then today it was a little better--but it's still there. I go back in early Feb. I wish they would make those new computer-driven lasers available! I don't know if I should get an enhancement--I can live with it this way--it's certainly better than my vision before. I can drive, etc. But I'd sure like to get rid of that other image! They left my left eye alone because my reading vision in it is perfect, so I have monovision. I love it (almost).

thanks, beverly. that's permanent - 1, resolving - 0. i'm not all that hopeful mine's going to get better either. i'm definitely going to wait for the next generation of lasers to fix it, though. right now, an enhancement would be guesswork, and there's only so much cornea you have to play with. i've got one eye seeing 20/20, and one with such bad astigmatism that i can barely make out the 20/70 line (mind you, i had *no* astigmatism prior to surgery), but with both eyes open i'm fully functional. such is life. thanks for the response. please post a message if things change.
