Background:
After getting glasses at 21 and missing Air Force pilot training, I was excited to have LASIK at 29.

Being the analytical sort, most of the medical research journals I looked at indicated that one of the most important success factors was the number of surgeries your surgeon did (aha, a learning curve!).

Accordingly, I chose Lexington Laser Vision in Canada and Dr. Woods (www.lexingtonlaservision.com). The center there did 40 surgeries the day I was there! B&L Chiron "flying spot" laser.

The surgery went well (and quick) with the Doctor having a hard time identifying the incisions post op.

Preop prescription:
R: -4.75
L: -4.75 cyl -1.0, Axis 160
Add + 1.00

The next day I checked out 20/30 with no real complications.

It has been 10 days since the surgery. My left (previously astigmatic eye) is perfect in the distance but it doesn't adjust well to reading. Conversely, my right eye reads well, but is fuzzy in the distance (still about 20/30). My eyes aren't coordinating well. I feel like I have my old contacts in the wrong eyes!

At my one week check up, I tested out about 20/20. My doctor gave me some of the letters though (he tests eyes in the dark and I'm still getting post op halos).

Strangely, my right eye is now astigmatic (-.75).
When I questioned my doctor he was pretty tight lipped and a little evasive. Essentially said "don't worry about it".

My questions:
1. Should my vision get better over time or is this it?
2. Will my eyes "coordinate" better? (This part is the most annoying)
3. Can LASIK surgery cause astigmatism?

Lasik caused astimatism in my right eye - and the crappy thing is, not even another enhancement got rid of the astig. Apparently lasik can cause not only the regular astigmatism but irregular. Will anxiously await any responses from doctors.
