PTK is an excimer laser procedure used to smooth out corneas with irregularities from diseases or scars. It is not useful for precision correction of irregular astigmatism resulting from PRK or LASIK.

PTK is phototherapeutic keratectomy. It can smooth surface scars but does
not necessarily treat irregular astigmatism. That is treated by customized
software in the laser itself
