Is Wavefront technology available in the United States? If it is, is there anyway to find out who's using it in my area.

I had a Wavefront here in Ireland. Once my dryness clears up I think I will be 100% satisfied with the result. I don't know what to compare it to, though. I had the Wavelight Laser. Let me know how you get on. Regards.

Wavefront technology is not currently approved by the FDA in the United States. There may be some clinical trials going on if you want to be a guinea pig. It is probably best to wait for approval. Some estimate that this will happen within a year.

I understand that the Visx Wavefront system is being used in trials for diagnostic purposes only (no direct link to the laser). Exactly what FDA approval is expected later this year? Is it just commercial use for diagnostic purposes? Does anyone have an estimate on when true wavefront technology with a link from the mapping system to the laser for custom ablations to treat higher order aberrations will be available in the US?

Can anyone give me an estimate of when Wavefront will be FDA approved in the United States? And does anyone have any idea of when it does get approved, to what correction level of myopia it will be able to do?

The Alcon Custom cornea wavefront based system is FDA approved for up to -7 D with up to 1.49 D of astigmatism as measured by the wavefront measurement. We are part of the FDA study for farsighted eyes, previously treated eyes, and eyes with higher amounts of myopia and astigmatism but you would need to live fairly close to Los Angeles as the followup visits are longer than most.

I'm confused. Alcon custom cornea wavefront can only go up to -7 for myopia or does it go up to higher degrees of myopia? I posted my situation under Large Pupils and Dr. Trattler told me that I should wait for the wavefront technology to come out. Here is a summary of my situation. Can you please let me know if the Alcon custom cornea wavefront could help me or not? Also, is it significantly more expensive than Lasik?
I have been to 4 different Lasik consultations . At each of these places, depending on the tool used and the doctor, my pupil size has varied from 6.8 to 8.2. One of the four doctors told me that he recommended waiting for better technology. The other three said I was a good candidate.
I have high myopia - around -7 for both eyes in contacts. No or very little astigmatism. And my corneal thickness is 625 for both eyes. In your opinion am I a good candidate?
