I had CustomVue Lasik 6 days ago with the VISX S4. Prior to surgery, I had -4.75 in the left eye, -5.00 in the right. I have 7.5-8mm pupils, which is why I chose the wavefront mapping.
My right eye has been excellent since day 1: 20/20, very mild haloing in daylight, some starbursting and haloing at night which seems to be slowly subsiding(I can drive without trouble). My left eye, however, is 20/30, and I experience moderate haloing and starbursting in daylight, as well as some double imaging. These complications have not improved.
My doctor has assured me that the left eye will probably catch up as my corneas resettle, and that the haloing and starbursting will gradually disappear in both eyes. I am not so certain: why would my eye with greater myopia improve so rapidly while the other did not?
If complications in my left eye persist, would a contact lens help with some of the haloing/starbursting? Would a touch-up procedure for my left eye (which my doctor says is a possibility) improve these complications?

You wrote this message on the 15th, and today is the 28th. My bet is that you have already seen some improvement in your night vision problems. LASIK is often more of a six month process than a 20-Minute Miracle.

Your myopia (nearsighted) vision was moderately low, however your naturally dilated pupils are quite large. It is probable that mild undercorrection at the outer edges of the cornea exacerbated by there not having been enough time yet for healing are probably contributing to the problem.

Before discussing if additional surgery is needed, let this surgery heal for at least 2-6 months and then decide what might be best.

Thank you very much for your reply.

The left eye has not improved much, and I still notice some glare in my right eye. The night vision has also not improved noticeably since my post. Still, I have gained more patience now; I partly just needed to get used to these symptoms.
