I'm not sure what forum this question would best fit in, but
here is goes. I am 4 days post op from an Intralase/
Custome wavefront Lasik. Overall, I am happy with the
results. My contact prescription was -4.50 in my right eye,
and -5.75 in my left with slight astigmatism. I know it is
probably too early to tell, but my left eye is not corrected as
well as my right eye. At my 24 hour visit I was rushed
through and told I had 20/20 vision. I told the Dr. ( not the
one who operated on me) that my left eye didn't seem as
good, and that the "point of view" seemed off center-- I
could see better by looking out of the right part of my eye
than through the center. I was told everything was perfect
and they would see me in 2 weeks. My concern is that my
right eye is perfect. It almost seems like a "high definition"
eyeball. My left eye is good, but seems like about 20/30.
This slight difference is causing some blurriness and
ghosting. I get the usual starbursts and halos around bright
lights, even during the day. I have followed the drop
schedule to the letter and have gone through an entire
bottle of the artificial tears.

Your left eye had a higher prescription and astigmatism correction. This is more difficult to get accurately and is subject to regression. It may be that there is slight edema (swelling) in the cornea. Edema could be affecting only part of the eye and this could account for ghosting. Dry eye is always an issue and can cause the type of symptoms you describe. You may want to see http://www.complicatedeyes.org/dry_eye_treatment.htm

It is time to go back to your doctor and tell them (in advance) that you do not want to be rushed. You would like a manifest refraction (which is better, one or two) to determine your current refractive error. The Snellen 20/whatever is not what you seek.

The prescription from the refraction will tell you if you have some refractive error remaining. Whatever it is, you can expect it to change and quite possibly resolve on its own by the end of the usual six month healing period. If you still have problems in three months, you may want to ask for a wavefront analysis to see if a cause can be more clearly identified.

It may be that your good eye is too good (if that is possible) and that your “bad” eye is really normal. Hopefully you will end up with high definition in both eyes.
