A week or so following my LASIK I was given a prescription for Restasin. It seemed to help almost immediately...but only for about 2 days. Then my eyes once again became blurry almost all the time (I know the surgery worked because I do have brief periods of crystal clear vision, but these are infrequent and rarely last longer than 6 hours). I have a couple questions. Would I be out of line being proactive and suggesting to my doctor that we try temporary punctal plugs and see if this helps? And if he agrees should I expect to have to pay an additional cost for this? I did pay an extra fee per eye for lifetime followup treatments so I'm not sure whether I should expect that to cover the procedure or not.

Thanks for any help anyone can offer!

its common to have blurry vision after surgery it might take a couple of weeks but why were you giving a precription so soon after surgery? did you suffer from dry eyes before lasik?

The doctor prescribed Restasis mainly because he was a little concerned (both at my one day and 1 week post-op checkups) by the amount of swelling present in my eyes.

I did have some dry eye problems prior to surgery which I told the surgeon about...nothing that ever bothered me unless I tried wearing contact lenses. I tried about 8 different types of contacts over the last 15 years but none ever felt comfortable and all of them dried quickly.
