I would like more information on what drops and/or supplements worked for people. I have tried almost every drop and pill, but after 4 monthes my right eye is often still blurry and painful.

Right now I am using a combination of Allergan Refresh Dry Eye Therapy drops and Soothe drops. I also use a low-dose steroid drop 2 times a day. I also wear some kind of glasses at all times. I am going to go and get a second opinion from another doctor soon.

Please tell me what works or has worked best for you. . .

Have you tried Genteal Gel? It's not as thick and gooey as an ointment, but last longer than a regular drop. It's a bit blurry in your eye for about 5 minutes, but after that your eyes feel nice and moist for quite some time. I had prk with dry eyes going into this procedure and found this gel to be the only thing that has worked and not leave my eyes blurry for long periods of time.

I've also heard, although not tride this myself, that sleeping with swimming goggles helps with dry eye relief in the morn.

Good luck,
Kelly

I did use Genteal for awhile. I think I stopped because of the blurry vision, but that was back before my eye was so painful. I am going to try it again. I also think I am going to start up a website with my reviews of all the drops and supplements I have used. I am kind of expert now. I will post it here when I get it up.

Thanks,
Andrew

Over the last few days my eyes have felt a bit better. I starting taking Bilberry about 3 days ago. I am not ready to get my hopes up, but I will let you know if it gets better.

I use Restatis. My eyes feel comfortable throughout the day when I use it. Sometimes, it stings a little when I put the drops in but it that doesn't bother me.

I forgot to add that it can take up to 2 weeks for Restasis to start to work.

I tried them all. Never ever use any of the ointments like Refresh PM. Ointments feel good while they are on, but they actually shed moisture away from the eyes. Try pouring water on Vaseline and you will see what I mean. GenTeal Gel worked great for me at night. I was going through 10-12 vials of the Refresh and Bion tears a day. After reading lots of info on here and on www.dryeyezone.com, I decided to get the free samples of "Dr. Holly's" drops which are available on dryeyezones website. They have 3. Nutratear which I use on days where it isn't quite so bad. Dakrina when I have worse days and Dwelle each night. Dakrina and Dwelle are almost identical in the ingredients except the Dakrina has Vitamin A. The Dwelle is slightly thicker, but nowhere near as thick as the Genteal Gel. You can see fine with all of them.

You will find many people taughting the use of Omega 3 oils. So far tests are inconclusive. Even if testing shows they work, you then need to find a supplement company that has research published in referee or peer review journals showing their own products work. I only know of 1 company that does this kind of research. The companies name is Shaklee and they have invested over $250 million in research and clinical trials that have been published in referee or peer review journals. I myself did an enormous amount of research on supplements years back and can tell you that Shaklee is the best. I even took the time to send letters and emails to many of the big named companies and asked them for a complete bibliography of research published in peer review and refereed journals. Only Shaklee sent them to me. All the others either didn't respond or sent correspondence stating that the FDA didn't require it so it wasn't necessary. My question to that is, "how do you know it works"?

Just to add to my previous post. Unfortunately what works for many of us, may not work for you. Although I currently use the NutraTear, Dakrina and Dwelle, I did have good results with Bion Tears and Refresh Plus. I had to use those very often. With the NutraTear, Dakrina and Dwelle, I find I don't have to use them as often. Especially the Dakrina and Dwelle. Dakrina and Dwelle sometimes leave a wax like substance on my eyelashes, but it's easily removed and prevented by wiping away excess.

Dr. Holly also has a prescription only formula called Freshkote that has a very loyal following. Freshkote requires a prescription.

FreshKote has been providing phenomenal results even for Sjogren's Syndrome patients. Also these drops are safe to use with contacts even when they're still in.
