Hi everyone. I had monovision epi lasek in the Uk 5 months ago. The vision results are fine but I have been left with dry eye. I have returned to Optimax who carried out the procedure and they have suggested several techniques which I have applied e.g. flax seed oil, eyelid scrubs, lacri lube, systane etc. The results have varied and approximately 4 weeks ago it seemed to clear up but it has returned with a vengeance. I think this relapse has demoralised me most!
I have contacted the owner Russell Ambrose who tells me that this sort of thing happens and that it will clear up but he cannot tell me when just that I have to be patient which is pretty hard to do when the conditon of your eyes seem to take over your life and make you a miserable grouch!
Any way this site is by far the best I have found so I thought I would ask a few questions:

1. Is it possible that it is still healing following the treatment 5 months ago and that in time it will go? Is nerve growth a factor after epi lasek and how fast do nerves grow?

2. Why have I got dry eye in both eyes when I only had one treated?

3. Are punctual plugs an effective treatment?

4. Is restasis available in the UK?

5. If optimax say they can do no more, where do I go from there? Should I visit my own GP or look for a private eye consultant?

Right now I wish i had never had it done and would pay twice what I paid for the treatment to put this problem right!

Thanks for listening to my misery and be assured I pray for everyone who suffers from this condition!
