Hey again,

I just wanted to let everyone know that it has been amost 8 mos post op and I no longer have halos and my vision is still perfect. Of course they are still dry and sometimes a pain, but I use my liquigel and it clears up, and even through a very scary bout of Bell's Palsy my left eye (which was effected) is doing great. I used lots of vaseline, who what of thought that would make your eyes feel moist? Of course not recommended during the day unless you don't need to see at all.(yes I actually was instructed to put a small amount in my eyes, but there are eye gels that are made just for eyes you should use) PM stuff. I took a huge risk before my LASIK because I had already suffered from dry eye, but I am free from glasses other than sunglasses when I leave the house. I did suffer from blurry vision, halos and "gritty" feeling for what I thought was forever, but it has been so worth it. DONT GIVE UP! Ever person has different healing periods and it takes time and of course patience. I have a friend who could see the moment see had her eyes done and had no PROBLEMS, so she says, and I was soo envious. I am glad that I waited and I cannot say it was without some miserable days, sometimes weeks, I kept thinking that I made a horrible mistake and I wanted my glasses back. Even now I sometimes try to "find" them in the mornings until I kick myself when I remember that I can see without them. Don't be afraid to do everything and talk to your doctor until you are satisfied with your results, after all you only have two eyes and never gamble with them. Dry eyes are one of the most painful and annoying conditions to have and I hope you all find your happy medium!! Take care!

Still 8 months of suffering is hard and not something youd want to go thru if you were at high risk. Theres IOLs and PRK, both which are more forgiving on dry eyes. I am gonna assume you were a high myope(confirm this) anyway im glad it went well for you.

As for me, I am sticking with glasses till the bugs get worked out in lasik/prk and/or till something better and safer comes along. My pescription is in the -4 range so I can still see somewhat without glasses but I see great with thin glasses.

Ace I can't rememeber the detail medical crap but I had the worst astigmatism in my left eye, I thought I was stuck in my" pop bottle bottom " ( and those were supposed to be thin frameless ones )glasses forever, but I found an awesome doctor who has thousands of success stories and took a plunge, maybe you"ll find someone too. Good Luck

Hi, I am new to this. I was just wondering if anyone had corneal erosion after surgery. It is very painful, and after all my researching before my surgery I hadn't talked to one person with that problem. Well, it is getting better, but dry eyes is a problem for me. I started taking bio-tears vitamins. I don't know if they are helping yet, but we try anything. I am at about 31/2 months, so I'm hoping that things get better. I have been using genteal PF drops during the day. I have a spot on both eyes that seems to always bother me. Well I am glad to have found this forum it does help to know other people have good ideas that can help.

Hi Bridget,

Thank you for the update and information. Just a couple of quick questions. What brand of eye drops do you use and do you use the liquid gels designed for night use during the day? Also, how many months did it take before you stopped seeing glare/halos? I am 2 mos. post op. and I have noticed an improvement in my dry eye - although I still experience, and the starbursts seem to be getting "thinner" (I can drive at night) but I am wondering when they went away for you.

Again, thank you for the positive message!

Julie

I use strictly Allergan for both the drops and the PM gel. I still use the drops during the night and day, I was advised by a fellow patient that her eyes stayed 20/15 because she used her drops faithfully for the last four years. My halos finally went away about three months and my night vision is awesome. I can say the dry thingy is a big pain, but I've learned to adjust. Plus I can give credit to my doctor, he is a great guy with 10 plus years of expirence. I hope I answered your questions, if not let me know if I can help you more. It hasn't been a perfect recovery, but then again rememeber it is a major surgery and life change. Good Luck and take it easy. Bridget
