Hi all,
I had Custom Vue Lasik 5 months ago, was moderately nearsighted & had astigmatism. I am in general very pleased with the outcome and have absolutely no regrets!
I had quite a bit of fluctuations in vision in the beginning, then it seemed to calm down some for a while. But, the past couple of months the fluctuations in vision seem to have increased again, sometimes day to day or morning to evening. My eyes don't necessarily feel dry or gritty, and do not hurt. My doc had me on Restasis for 2 months post-op; now I use Systane.
Could the fluctuations be from a mild case of dry eye, or is it possible my eyes are just taking longer to heal? By the way, I am 52 yrs. old, if that might have anything to do with it.

Fluctuations in vision throughout the day may be related to dry eye. Your doctor should be able to examine your eyes, measure your tear quantity, and measure tear quality to provide an indication of the condition of your tears. You may also want to read about Lasik Dry Eye at http://www.usaeyes.org/lasik/faq/lasik-dry-eyes.htm

Your age may have something to do with your vision fluctuation. Pregnancy, peri-menopausal, and post-menopausal women using Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) often suffer from fluctuations in visual acuity due to fluctuations in hormones. If this may apply to you, ask your general medical doctor for an evaluation or if a change in the type of hormones may be appropriate.

Thanks so much for your info Glen - and I checked out your website - it is something I will refer to often.
I have a call in to my eye surgeon; they may try putting me back on Restasis for a while to see if that clears things up. If not, I will be going back in for another evaluation.
Thanks again!
