I have just arrived home and I'm very sad because I couldn't undergo a Relasik.
My cornea thickness is 450 in my rigt eye and 440 in my left eye after my first Lasik, measured including flap. The surgeon would had need about 15 micron cornea to improve my result.During the surgery she meaesured my cornea thickness after lifting the flat again and couldn't proceed because there were only 247 microns under the flap.As a conclusion my flap is around 200 micron thick, which is highly above average.
I'm very disappointed because my prescription after Lasik is -0,75 and -0,5 cyl. for each eye and I can't see very good without glasses..
I have heard that some surgeons do a Lasek over the flap but with the risk of haze.
Would the the risk of haze over a very thick flap as in my case be lower compared to thinner flaps ?
Should I be worried about ectasia because of such a thin corneal bed under the flap.
Could a Lasek over the flap increase the risk of ectasia.
Could there be new or safer technologies in future.
Thank you very much!
