I had monovision lasik back in May, 2005. My prescription was -7.00. My dominant eye is undercorrected - it is 20/40 so I am legal to drive, but my vision is not crisp and clear for distance. My doctor says he recommends an enhancement at 3 months. Should I enhance then or wait longer to see if the distance improves? Thanks!

What is your residual refractive error in each eye now? I am not a doctor so you will have to discuss with your own doctor if an enhancement is worth the risks of overcorrction and even thinner corneas. Waiting longer shouldnt hurt, perhaps you can get a thin pair of glasses just for driving? Can you see well from near with both eyes right now?

The doctor said he will just lift the existing flap that he already made and laser again. He used intralase for first procedure. I could wear glasses but would prefer not to. My close vision is very good - just blurry for distance. Should I wait longer than 3 months to see if distance vision improves?

If your vision is still undergoing fluctuations then it might be good to wait till it stabalizes. I also want to let you know that its tricky to enhance less than -1 diopter left, at least from what ive read. One guy was -1.25 and -.75 and the doctor said hes only gonna enhance the -1.25 ***Do you know how much myopia you have left in your dormant eye?*** If your own doctor says he can enhance, still discuss the risks of becomming hyperopic in that eye then things will be blurry near and far :(

I do not sense that my vision is changing. Distance is always blurry. Unfortunately, I do not know what diopter is in the dominant eye - all my doctor said is that the dominant eye is 20/40. I don't know what that corresponds to in diopters. I don't want everything to be blurry after enhancement. I was hoping that the distance would sharpen and that would be the end of it! Why is it difficult to correct less than 1 diopter? Thanks.

If your best corrected vision is 20/20 with glasses then youd be perhaps -1 in the absense of any significent amounts of regular and irregular astigmistim. Since you said things are clear from near I recon its myopia. However you may want to be sure when you get refracted by your doctor and also be sure how much and what is going to be enhanced. You can discuss the risks of overcorrection with your doctor. When removing minute amounts of tissue, this leaves no margin of error. What are you in your non dormant eye? Anyway what I said is info I obtained from the book and internet. Your doctor is the one that can give you your options and facts to help you decide whats best for you. I wish you luck and crystal clear vision :)
