"Is Relifting the Flap for enhancement painful?" Posted by Trisha on 21:34:30 8/31/2005

I went to my lasik dr. tonight and they told me that I need to get an enhancement. I know when I actually went through with the lasik operation with the microkeratome it was not painful.
When i asked my dr. tonight how they relift the flap, they said with a scalpel. Now, that really freaked me out. I am a little scared to get it done b/c I am worried that I will feel this more. The dr. did tell me that I would have a burning sensation in my eyes afterwards but I should feel better the next morning.
Can anyone tell me of their experience with enhancing with lasik? Maybe I can be put at ease if I hear other stories.
Thanks.

The re-lift of the flap for my enhancement was MUCH MUCH LESS scary compared to cutting the flap with the microkeratome. I didn't even feel the scalpel ...all the surgeon used the scalpel for was to make a little cut to allow him to get under the flap in the operating room. As a result of avoiding the microkeratome and the suction ring, my eyes were WAY less irritated following the enhancement, compared to the original procedure.
I am a total wimp, and yet I found the flap re-lift MUCH MUCH better than making it from scratch.
