"Flap Removal?"

I went in for lasik surgery on Monday. The first cut of the flap was bad on the first eye. The doctor stopped the procedure. After having me wait a few minutes, he took me into the examining room and began to smooth out the flap. He put a contact lens over it to hold it in place. On the way home in the car, the lens popped out. I called him on the cell phone & he said to return. When he looked at it again, he said the lens dislodged the flap. He put it back in place & decided not to put the contact back in. That was okay & the next morning I felt positive. The eye did not hurt as much as I thought it would.

But then in his office for my post-op visit the next morning, he began smoothing out the flap wrinkles again -- wrinkles I didn't even know I had. He was messing around with my eye so much & by then I was not still on the pain meds, I started to feel faint & nauseous. He put one of those things in my eye to hold it open so I couldn't blink and then he cut off my flap while I was sitting there in the chair. He then tells me what he just did and says it's better that way.

After all I had read on the Net to prepare myself and the more reading I did after my initial surgery to see if anyone else had a similar problem, I knew that flap removal was disastrous. I've seen no other postings describing what happened to me!

Yesterday I saw a second surgeon for another opinion. He comforted me some, although he admitted the seriousness of the situation. My eye,he explained, is like an eye that has had PRK, where they shave off some tissue at the top to flatten the cornea (I thought I had no cornea
left!) and my vision in that eye should actually come out somewhat improved from what it was. Before I was a -5.50 in that eye. He thinks
it might end up a -3.0. And, the laser never even went on my eye. That's just from the cut & removal of tissue. Both surgeons told me that another attempt at lasik in a few months is not out of the question for me.

If any professional in the field could offer me any words of wisdom relating to a similiar case, please let me know!
