Dear Doctors:
I am fast approaching three months post-op Lasik and have had a minor flap complication since day one.
My over-all healing is good and the visual outcome is quite good with 20/20 correction in both eyes. The problems is a minor flaw in my right eye (fortunately not my dominate eye) that blurrs the vision and on occasion distorts light in a 2 oclock 8 oclock angle in my right eye.
A recent second opinion by a local Doctor indicated he could see the flaw, but felt it best not to attempt to lift the flap at the risk of creating a bigger problem. We tried to correct the problem refractively, but with no success. I know that time is critical with flap lifts.
My question is should I consider some kind of corrective measure before much more time is lost?
I heard of using a contact for a bandaid until the re-epithelialization of the cornea takes place. Is this a viable alternative to lifting the flap? Is there much chance a damaged flap will correct itself over time without a contact?
I would rather live with the problem than risk further harm to this eye.
Thanks in advance for your input.
Richard
