Hi
I have had a loss of suction that caused my flap to tear off during the cutting of my flap. Currently I have no prescription in my eye and have to decide whether I am to go through with further surgery (what I had happen is rare so they don't know what further complications can arise). I have been fitted for a hard contact lens in the meantime, and the flap has healed back in place, I just have to try and get used to wearing it. I had a surgical contact lens over my eye while the flap was healing down, which sounds like what you are having. It is better to have it so the flap will heal in place and you don't dislodge it, although it was a bit uncomfortable (I had to wear it for a week, but got it changed 3 times). What has been your experience, I am interested in finding out similar cases to mine.

simone, I agree, the dr's arn't sure what to do with a free flap. I've been adviced to wear a hard contact len's. I was fitted and am waiting for it to come and and begin wearing it. It appears no one can tell me if I can have lasik in the future after wearing a hard contact. what are you hearing?

Hi there, I haven't been wearing the contact lens as my eye is damaged and had the ingrown cells. A week ago I got these cells removed and it has so far been successful. They say that they will let it heal for 3 months then probably try surgery again. There are 3 options been given to me by various doctors:
1) do nothing, but I am blind in that eye!
2) have lasik again with the chance of it going wrong again
3) have a slightly more unconventional treatment of prk where they don't cut the eye again but laser through the surface
I am just going to wait to see what happens, it had never happened to my doctor before and he he has been brilliant in dealing with me, waiting for everything to look better before I make this major decision.
