Hello
I have an on going problem with terrible variable blurring/distorted vision. I had a second proceedure for lasik and ever since then (a year ago) my eye sight has been bad. Even though i am get apparent 20/20 off an eye charts when i visit a clinic, it is NOT representitive of how my vision acts at all. It can blur out of control for things around me in the day time, i always have a general haze (never any clearness) to everything and i experience light scatter and increasing double images) when my pupils enlarge out. Once doctor was going to suture my flaps to removes wrinkles. But now he states the outer epithelium is pretty smooth...BUT the wrinkles are still present in the bowman's layer, right in the middle of both visual axis' under retroillumination.
Using a pin hole i always see the image in one eye flickering about between several images and the other eye the image pulling around wildly. Is the consitent with wrinkles through that layer? I do have no apparent prescription either..and i often wear a zero contact lens in one eye during the day now...even though i find it very hard to tolerate it!
The way my sight acts is wholely unnatural and kills the way i try and look at the world.
Has anyone else gone through the experience I have?
Any discussion would be of real help to me...and i have thought maybe would removing the epethelium and bowmans layer completely (as in prk) would also be a solution to this? - I have enough stroma left i believe.
PLEASE....someone help me out?! i live in the UK and my address is .

David,

Theoretically, removing Bowman's layer via PRK would eliminate the flap striae. But, what if that isn't the entire problem? Additional surgery would certainly induce some kind of refractive error.

You state that you are wearing a contact lens, but it is uncomfortable. The contact lens must be doing something for your vision, is that correct? In my experience, RGP contact lenses are almost miraculous in terms of their ability to "pull the image together." The focus should then be on getting the lens to fit comfortably, something that should not be too difficult.
