This question is directed to a dr.

On September 9, 2005, I had an enhancement done to both eyes. When going back to see the dr. a few days later, everything seemed okay. When I went to see my dr. yesterday 10/19/05, I mentioned to him that it takes a while for my left eye to focus on an object.

He mentioned that there was a line in my left eye. At first he was not sure if it was dry eye or something else. After numbing the eye and looking at it closer, he said I had epithelial ingrowth (a small amount) and there was also some gooey looking stuff in there that should subside on its own. The dr. is hoping that when the gooey stuff goes away it clears the epithelial ingrowth along with it. My next appt. with him is on November 23.

My questions are:

1) Do these two items usually clear up together? I cannot think of the name he called the gooey stuff.

2) Does epithelial ingrowth stop growing after a while or can it keep multiplying. And, if and when they do clear it up, can it occur again any time down the road?

3) Does it usually clear up after one scraping procedure?

4) Is another month to long to wait before seeing the dr. again to monitor the cell growth?

5) He believes that this could be causing the one step of nearsightedness I am having in this eye. In your opinion would you think the same? Can scraping the eye clear this up if necessary?

Any answers would be helpful. Thanks for your time.

I was about to post a reply, but then noticed your next appointment was yesterday. I am curious about the outcome.
