Hi,
I had the lasik done almost 5 years ago, all is well except now my left eye is 1.25 myopia. Needless to say I wish it wasn't. But now my concern is it likely to get worst? I know no one can answer this question definitively, but what about generally? Before I did lasik, my vision about about 6.50 on both eyes. I have no complaints on my right eye, I can still see very well. How bad is it generally likely to get. Or is it likely that it will just stay around 1.25?
Maybe it has been 1.25 quite some time, but I never noticed it and now it is starting to bother me. If it stays around this range then I don't really need glasses, but if it gets moderately or a lot worst, then I would need glasses or even contacts for my left eye. This has been bugging me. Does anyone have any idea? My doctor told me previously that I may need glasses, but my vision will never be as bad as it was before. He encourage to do enhancement for my left eye, but I don't want to anymore, too afraid of the risk. Thanks for any information.

Although LASIK provides a permanent change in the shape of the cornea, the eye does continue to change with or without LASIK. I am a bit concerned, however, that your left eye has regressed to about 1.25 diopters of myopia (nearsightedness) and your right eye has apparently had little or no changes. This may indicate something more than simple refractive error.
Yes, it is possible to have simple refractive error increase in only one eye, but it is unusual enough that when coupled with previous LASIK indicates that you need a good evaluation and diagnosis if some other problem exists.
If you are getting close to age 40, you may want that low myopia in your left eye. The reason is that as your ability to change focus to see items close to you diminishes with presbyopia. The small myopia can actually be helpful. You may want to read http://www.usaeyes.org/faq/subjects/monovision.htm.
