I just had Lasik this past Thursday 5/19/05. I would like to know if I can expect the halo and starburst to subside in the coming weeks? My prescription was -5 and -5.5 dioptors with -.75 astigmatism in one eye. I had the CostumVue with the Visx S4 Excimer Laser. I knew all the risk going into the elective surgery. With the new technology and the CostumVue corneal mapping, I thought my risk of having poor low light vision was very low. I am 20/20 in both eyes but I see a lot of halo and a lot of starburst in low light. I also see starburst around bright lights in daylight. Please give me so hope, or, have I made a grave mistake?

Sorry, I left this out of my original post. I was told my pupil was 6mm in low light and the flap would be 8mm.

Jeff,
I had my lasik surgery on April 25. I had halos and starbursts for about 10 days or so. Now I only have very slight halos with my right eye when my eyes are dry.
I think you can feel fairly confident that it will get better soon!

Tomorrow will be a week post-lasik and I find myself turning on all the lights in the house at dusk to limit the starburst. Were your pupils dilated a week or so after Lasik? My pupils seem to be larger than normal, which I think is contributing to the starburst.

Actually, my right pupil is still slightly larger than my left one. My vision is good though, and I seldom have halos at all. The first couple of weeks, I did have trouble in low-light conditions.
Today is one month for me. I'm getting tired of all the eye drops, but it certainly seems to be helping the healing process. My vision still fluctuates a bit though, but even when it's "bad" it's pretty darn good. I have a close friend that had lasik 6 weeks before I did (with the same surgeon and similar correction needed) and his vision seems to have stabilized now.
I think the hardest part is being patient. And I keep analyzing my vision several times a day, every day, each eye, as well as how they feel. The left eye is quite the happy camper, but my right eye is my dominant eye so everything with that one seems like a bigger deal to me.
Feel free to email me if you wish

Has it gotten better? I'm about to get my eyes done and
I have roughly the same perscription and I as well have
huge pupils. Doc. says no problem, but I'm still scared.
