I had LASIK done in Jan'05 (7 months back) and like many other people on this Forum I'm also experiencing halos and starbursts in low light conditions. My eyes otherwise are fine and I have excellent vision in bright light conditions.

It seems my problem is affected by the pupil size because if I "see" through a pinhole, the halos and starbursts are completely gone. A smaller pupil size certainly helps eliminate the starbursts but I read somewhere that this necessarily doesn't mean that the ablation zone is smaller than the max pupil diameter. Also, I noticed that my "Operation Report" says that my pupil size is 6mm and the ablation zone is 8mm. So, its unclear whats going on here.

I have some difficulty driving at night because of the starbursts and on Fri (Aug 26) I am going to see the local eye doctor here to see if something can help reduce the night time problems. I would like to ask other Forum members if anyone had positive experiences with some of the proposed things such as Rigid Gas Permeable lenses, contact lenses with artificial pupils, pupil constricting drops, enhancement procedures or anything else...

Basic motive for this is that if more than 1 thing works for me then I could weigh the pros and cons of each approach.

I think there is a lot of negative sentiment (myself included) on this Forum and its justifed too, but I say whats done is Done and its best to look forward to the future now...

Thanks and best wishes,

If you had an ablation or transition zone to 8mm then high order aberivations might be the crulpit. A decenterd ablation might also be the reason as well as central island. I am not a doctor so you will need to discuss this with your own and request a topography of your corneal map

I just wanted to let you know that I had my Lasik done in May. My vision at night was terrible. I was afraid to drive with my kids in the car, because I could not tell the diffrence between car lights, street lights and traffic, they all blended together. In August I finally went back to the doctor and he gave me the Alphagan P drops. It made such a diffrence. Lights actually look normal for the first time since the surgery. I put them in about 1/2 hour to 45minutes before driving. It did dry my eyes out which made me tired, although it does not seem to bother me much if I use it now.

I still get frustrated that I do have the starburst, I too try to move forward. My vision is excellent other than that. When I first had the problem, I felt very depressed and angry. Now I am happy that I can see and am learning that things could always be worse.

Good Luck!
