I suspect that the night vision problem resolved for a few days because your pupils were smaller, possibly due to medication you were taking for a different purpose. You may want to read http://www.usaeyes.org/faq/subjects/lasik_pupil_size.htm
You should get yourself re-evaluated. Much has changed since you had refractive surgery three years ago. It may be that Complex Wavefront Retreatment (CWR) will resolve the night vision problems, the use of Alphagan P will temporarily reduce your pupil size in low light environments, or that a fitting of rigid gas permeable contact lenses will resolve these issues. At the very least, an evaluation will let you know your options.

I had a RX for the drops which cost $40 and it prevents the eyes from dilating somewhat, which is good since that seems to be what causes my problem. Therefore, it greatly diminished the starbursts, but it caused a lot of trouble focusing on close objects. The drops also lost some of their effectiveness after using for a few days. Stopping the drops resulted in a few days of even worse starbursts but it returned to normal starbursts after that. I stopped using the drops because of these side effects.
