After experiencing massive starbursts, halos and slight night time double vision 2 days ago, I became very disheartened and I couldn't sleep that night. In the past 2 days I have experimented and called my doctor
I have reduced my effects dramatically....

First, call your doctor and get some real advice.... They can dispel any myths from reading this site (such as my fear that I actually had HUGE pupils... which I apparenlty don't 5mm.....or something else....) He thinks I have some refractive error that will still need a touchup.

I called and they explained that your eyes can dry out long before you realize it. The had originally recommended using SYSTANE every 15 mins. I hated this stuff. It was so greasy that I couldn't see clearly for about 15 mins after using it! I switched to Theratears and used it every 8-10 mins (single drop only) tonight. This cleared up about 50% of my issues. Apparently, my eyes were getting so dry that they twitched casuing the eye to focus in and out making huge starbursts.

I've also forced myself to limit the caffine and alcohol and drink more water. Additionally, I've added Theratears nutritional supplements, Vitamin C, Multivitiman, and Advil when neeed if I feel ....I'd recommend taking them long before your surgery date.... Worse case scenario is that you are getting your heart in better shape.

I tested my new regimen tonight and there was a difference that was very noticeable.

At dinner I realized something very interesting... my wife who has 20/20 natural vision with a slight astigmatism, sees about the same starburst effect I am seeing tonight including a slight rainbow on the long vertical starburst lines. I would guess that I am 20/40 -20/80 at night with some slight astigmatism.

So, tonight I think I am seeing "normal" for a Post Lasik patient. I have slight starbursts like my wife who has 20/20 naturally. Some light Halo effect which almost everyone gets and I am told will go away in 2 months or so and while I am still fuzzy at night a bit, I kinda expected that I'd need a touchup. I have not seen 20/20 on the eye chart yet, but I have seen 20/30 on the chart and see crystal clear outside in the sunlight.

Pre-op Vision
-8.75 with +225 astigmatism
-8.00 with +150 astigmatism

I am 11 days post-op.
Laser was the VISX Star 4 with CustomVue and Wave Front mapping. $3500 !

I hope this helps someone sleep better tonight. I don't want to give any of you false hope... but this is what has helped me.
