My subject line sums it up. I had Lasik that went very well. Nine months later, I had a sudden and very rapid degradation in my vision in both eyes. Later found out that I probably had keratoconus prior to the surgery as per old detailed medical records, I am not sure what drew this conclusion. Anyway was having a terrible time fitting for RGP lens. Finally fit the right eye after a year. My doctor was so patient - God bless her heart. My left eye was not so good so I got intacs via intralase to stabilize the eye and make for an easier time fitting with a contact. My dear patient doctor wouldn't touch that eye. So intacs doctor cornered fellow colleague who incidentally fits contacts into fitting the eye with the intacs. He very very begrudgingly does. Gives up on the second try and says that the best he can do. With intacs RGPs are harder to fit. So while the lens is bearable, I figure I had better start trying to find someone who is more....willing to work with fitting that eye. On the bright side, my vision is 20/30 on the intacs eye with the contact and 20/35 on the eye without the contacts. Without the contacts, I can make out the big E on the reading chart, and maybe 2 lines thereafter, on a good day. I am still happy about all this because not too long ago, the words double corneal transplant were thrown my way but now there seems to be some measure of hope. I am abit concerned that both the contacts while wearable, tend to stick to my eye and not move after a few hours. I heard this was a bad thing. They are made of some plastic material that allows for maximum oxygen circulation. I scrub my hands pratically raw before handling them and use eye drops through out the day. Is there anything else I can do? Is there anyone willing to try fitting me with more bearable lens? Since this post is rather long, I will await a response to share the actual medical stuff from my records or alternatively, send out a complete record.
Thank you and looking forward to helpful response.
C.James

How well do glasses correct your vision? Have you looked into wavefront glasses? Sorry to hear of your bad lasik experience and KC

Hi,
I have not heard about wavefront glasses. All the docs I have gone to have ruled out glasses altogether because of the very irregular, unstable, and thinnish corneas and were very determined to fit me with the RGPs. Just a note, I have been going to doctors at Wilmer (JHU).

Take it with a grain of salt. No harm in trying but not everyone has seen a difference with those. If they make any difference for you, great!
I think its worth trying anyway since you cant tolerate contacts well.
