Im from UK, and have been shopping around for laser eye surgery but have not taken any action yet.
It seems that for you guys to give any advice you need my current prescription (will have posted tomorrow hopefully) but I will continue with my question anyway.
I am in holiday in Mexico and found out that eye surgery is approximately 1/4 of the price compared to UK - so have been trying to search for a few places.
Some websites I found are:
http://www.oftalmoarellano.com
http://www.oftalmologialaser.com.mx
http://www.mundoclaro.com/
The mundoclaro has VisX S3 laser (I am aware there is a S4 and also other alternatives) and I am going to find out what the other two surgeries use.
The main questions I have are:
1. Is the S3 good enough to make vision perfect? (Think you will need my prescription to answer, although there is always uncertainty with this sort of thing)
2. Are you aware of any other surgeries in the Mexico City area?
3. Are there any long term studies to say that laser surgery remains okay? (What im trying to say here, is it likely that in 40 years will I be totally blind?!)
Thanks for any help - I will post my prescription ASAP.

Measurement, Right Eye, Left Eye
Sph +0.75 -0.75
Cyl -2.75 -2.50
Axis 155.0 15.0
Distance Acuity 6/6 6/6
Near Acuity N5 N5
Taken from a Boots optician May 2004.
I used ultralase's suitablity checker and it said I wouldnt really benefit from the right eye, but I would from the left.
To add, one of the websites, http://www.oftalmologialaser.com.mx uses a VisX S4 laser. (I guess the newer and potentially better laser)
What do you think??
Thanks in advance, Tom.
