Hi,
Before op, I was -14.00/-4.00 right eye and -12.00/-3.00 left eye. I'm 40 years old.
Right eye was done on 2 June and left on 7 June.
As my corneas are thin, less than 6 mm, I was told that I will not get 20/20 vision. That was fine but from day 2 onwards till now, I'm relying on my glasses with -3.50/-1.00 right eye and -1.50/-2.00 left eye. My left eye has regressed to -2.50 but I did not change my glasses because I can still function with this pair.
1)I was told that my right eye was corrected -12.50 and my left eye was corrected -12.00. Does that mean that theoritically, I should be able to see clearly with my left eye and should be able to use my right eye for close vision?
2)For the first and second days, I was able to see much more clearly than now. I was able to see the tiny numbers on the clock clearly from across the room. I was elated but now, I could not see them without my glasses. Is this a normal phase of healing?
3)I understand that I have to be patient and wait for 3 months, but I am told by the doctor not to place too much high hopes on getting the "clear vision" which I had for those couple of days. Is this true for high myopic cases like mine?
4)I'll have to wait 3 months to see whether I need enhancement, and whether I'm a candidate. The doc won't give me a definite answer. He says he'll have to check how much cornea I have left. Am I being paranoid in thinking that he just doesn't want to give me the bad news now that I won't be an enhancement candidate?
5)Should I be happy with the results I'm having now since I couldn't even see my toes without my glasses in the past?
6)Without glasses, I need to stare for a few seconds in order to read the subtitles on the TV. Am I straining my eyes when I am staring like that? Is it okay if I squint to see better?
7)I understand the dry eye situation and after putting the lubricating eye drops (Tear), I am able to get a hint of clear vision (probably for a split second). Does this mean that my vision will improve once my eyes start providing tears normally again?
8)How often can I apply the eye drops? I'm putting 2 drops every half hour. Is that too excessive? Can I put more frequently so that I can see slightly better?
I won't be able to see my doc until a month later and I'm getting depressed because of Questions 2 and 3. I really appreciate your time and answers.
Thanks.
