I'm a 16 day post-op PRK patient. I'm doing okay but, to be honest, I'd hoped to have a better correction at this point. I'm not 20/40 or better yet. I'd say I'm "minimally functional" without contacts or glasses. I can read. I can drive (if I don't have to read road signs and know where I'm going). I have some double vision and ghosting and driving at night is...well...interesting. My doctor has assured me, however, that all is well and to be patient and I believe him.
My question is this....I've read in a couple of posts from people with PRK that their real good vision didn't kick in until after the quit their steroid drops. I'm taking Econopred Plus four times a day.
Just curious if this is true sometimes. Thanks....

I had PRK done on both of my eyes a little over six months ago. I had to used steroid drops for 4 months. My vision started to improve pretty significantly after that. I was -7.5 before surgery and I can now see very well at 20/25. I was seeing 20/40 three months ago. Just be patient and allow your eyes to heal.

That's encouraging.
Our of curiosity, did you wear any glasses or contacts while you healed up?
Thanks again....
Steve

No. I didn't wear any contacts/glasses while my eyes were healing. I was lucky to be able to carpool with one of my co-workers while I was struggling to see the first few weeks after surgery. I hope you have a speedy recovery.

on 05/22/04 i had lasek surgery to correct my myopia[-4.5 with astig].at three weeks post op i was seeing a very blurry 20/30 without glasses. i had my doc write me a best guess prescription and those glasses helped me alot. i have since gone through three other prescriptions.my eyes are getting better but i still have a problem with dry eye and some minor fluctuations and minor halos and ghosting at night.now when my eyes are at there best i see about 20/15 without glasses and 20/30 when they are dry and tired.the halos and star bursts seem to be getting better with time.please ask me any questions and i will reply.

It's been two weeks since my original post. I completed my course of steroids about five or six days ago.
Since then, my astigmatism / double vision has improved DRAMATICALLY. I'm not sure it's exactly 20/20 yet, but it's close enough that I am no longer considering having an enhancement in August.
I'm a happy guy.
