I had Lasik surgery about 10 days ago. Both of my eyes were in the -9 range prior to surgery. I am now seeing 20/30 in one eye and 20/40 in the other. My doctor says that everything looks good and my vision should still improve. So far my vision hasn't improved since the day after surgery. I am happy with my results but how much of a further improvement am I likely to have, if any?

It's possible you will have some improvement, but it may take time since you were so nearsighted. The most important thing you can do is keep your eyes well-lubricated ("The wetter, the better") This will speed recovery and may even prevent regression, which is more common in high myopes.
Don't give up hope!
