I am a 23 year old Australian with -19.00 and -20.00 vision and was told a couple of years ago I wouldn't be eligable for Lasik, due to my age and also to the severity of my eyesight. I heard there is another type of surgery where they place a plastic type thing under/on (not quite sure) your iris and then dong lasik.
Any information would be extremely helpful.

Hi,
in the UK they use the Artisan or Artiflex ICL from Ophtec, I think it it is called Veryise in the states.
The main benefit is that it is reversible, however you would need long term endothelium cell count monitoring. for your prescription it would improve your quality of life.

Lasik isnt gonna remove more than about half your myopia plus its too risky for your super pescription. Discuss with your doctor if your a candidate for phakic IOLs. Keep in mind you may still need much thinner glasses as your eyes may still be getting worse but you wont ever be a -20 again.
