Im 23 and nearsighted since I was 8. My nearsightedness had been getting worse gradually and it seems to be getting worse faster and faster last years. I had to stop wearing contacts last month and now i feel very shy about wearing glasses because i have to wear new lenses they looks very thick, being very notticeable the change from -10.50 and -11.50 to -11,75 and -13.00. Is possible get lasik?

Your pescription is out of range for lasik and besides its not stable either. You might be able to consider phakic IOLs once your pescription stabalizes. Save those old glasses and use them for reading and the computer, this should reduce eyestrain and hopefully slow down your pathalogic myopia. I am curious why you cant wear contacts anymore? You can get high index glasses in a small frame to cut down on thickness. Dont be shy about glasses, alot of guys dont mind and some actually like it ;) Another thing im curious is how well were you seeing with contacts and how well are you seeing with glasses with its minification and all?

I had to let contacts because since last years i feel them umcomfortable (intolerance, red and dry eyes ... and finally i cant support them more than two hours )
I must said that my vision with contacts is much better than with my glasses. Glasses dont give me the full vision to diguise the last rows on the chart (the very little) i had nottice the objects something like curved when i look over the side of the lenses (dont matter with contacts) mostly with the glasses i wear at home. Do you think i couldnt grt better vision with lasik?

Thanks for your reply. Whatever im going to say is my opinion. Feel free to discuss your concerns with a doctor as well. In my opinion, I dont think your going to be too happy getting lasik with your -13 pescription. You are still going to need glasses, albet much thinner ones. Not only that, lasik is high risk for a high myope like you. Lasik probably wont be able to fully correct -13 diopters and even if it did, you mentioned that your eyes have not stabalized but are still changing so youll be back in glasses, but much thinner. I think your best corse of action is to get some nice high index glasses in a small frame so they wont be so thick. Give it some time, youll get used to glasses. I know high myopes usually see better in contacts than glasses because of the minification glasses do. Once your pescription stabalizes, you then can look into phakic IOLs. If you have any other questions, let me know.

Hope this helps

Hey are you there? Wondering how your doing with glasses, get used to them yet? How well do you see with them? 20/30? Remember, surgury is risky and your not a candidate for lasik
