I am 4 days post-op after having a contact lens implanted into my left eye. Bottom line: yes, I am happy I did it, and I plan to do my right eye next month.
The surgery is not pleasant, but the anestesiologist (sp?) made me comfortable with valium, Versed (an amnesiac) and something else for pain. I remember the whole procedure.
I was -15 diopters before the procedure, now I see 20/30 in that eye. Once the eye heals, I will get lasr (probably PRK) to fix the astigmatism. My left eye is very comfortable and healing very fast.
I highly recommend Verisyse (IOL) to highly myopic people!!!!!!
Feel free to ask any questions.
Janet (41 yrs)

whats your residual pescription now? Do you feel its worth the risks of a 2nd surgury to correct 20/30 to 20/25 or even 20/20? I know the first surgury corrected you from "blind" all the way to 20/30! Not only that, youll never have to worry about cateracts since your lens has been removed and replaced with an IOL. Perhaps get an IOL in the other eye then wear a thin pair of glasses for your astigmastim whenever you feel like it

I'm happy for you. Would you mind indicating the amount of astigmatism you have? I'm exploring the same procedure but don't know if astigmatism will disqualify me. Thank you.

Wait for the Toric ICL to get FDA-approved rather than have the Verisyse or ICL and also get a "touch up" with a corneal refractive procedure. You'll be happier. Available now in Canada and many other countries...the TICL has given a number of Americans great results!

Is the approval for the toric ICL from Visian expected any time soon? Are you saying that a toric ICL can be implanted and then a follow up lasik procedure for residual astigmatism?
