I am considering refractive surgery for my myopia for life style reasons. Lasik and PIOL are the options I am exploring. Money is not an issue.
My Lasik evaluation (had 2 with different clinics) indicated that I am a good candidate for the procedure.
However, I am also interested in figuring out more about PIOL and whether it is a serious possibilty. The reason for considering PIOL is the reversible nature of the procedure (unlike permanent corneal ablation).
Specifically, I am interested in understanding 1. Does PIOL makes sense for my kind of case (details below)?
2. If not today, how far in future till PIOL could get into similar risk range as Lasik?
My details:
Male, East Indian, 35 years, good health.
Refraction: OD: -5.5 and OS: -7.25 / -0.25 / X170
Cornea: 609 microns
Scotopic pupil: 5.7 mm (2nd clinic measured it at 7 mm)
Overall healthy eyes
Any feedback?
Thanks.
