I am 27 years old and have one child. I am planning to have atleast 1 possibly 2 more children. Should I wait to have lasik done until I have all my children? I have read that your eyesight can change when pregnant and possibly after birth as well. I am planning to try for another baby at the end of the year. Should I just be patient and wait a few years? Thanks.

Dear Kelly,
If you are planning on getting pregnant within the next 3 months, I would advise waiting. As far as waiting to have your entire family before having lasik there is nothing wrong with that, it just means that you choose to defer the benefits of this wonderful new technology before you can begin to enjoy the benefits. That's a personal choice issue.
However, it's important not to be pregnant when you are evaluted for this procedure.
Good luck with your family,
Omar Almallah, MD
