I am 34 and nearsighted (approx. -7 with approx. -2.5 astigmastism). I have had trouble with near/reading vision for at least 8 years. I have worn reading glasses in the past, particularly when I got a new, stronger prescription (though I currently do not need them as I have kept the same prescription for several years now). I am considering Lasik and wonder if I should consider anything with regards to my premature need for reading glasses. Thanks.

Monovision is an option, but its a good idea to try that first before making it permaent with lasik. If you cant tolerate monovision, the other option is slightly undercorrect both eyes and wear glasses only for driving or watching movies and be glasses free the rest of the time, including avoiding reading glasses. I am only 23 but I also have some difficulty seeing from near with full power glasses. I just take my glasses off to read and have a seperate weaker pair for the computer. If you dont like the monovision or undercorrection idea, youll still need glasses after lasik. Maybe want to consider progressive glasses?
