Post Lasek there are a lot of ups and downs all attributed to corneal healing. When can one safely assume that the healing process is complete and stable. I had my enhancement on the 24th Jan and until today my vision has not stabilised in either eye. the left eye was alright for a few days but now both eyes are giving me problem . The doctor keeps saying to lubricate and wait, but for how long ? I had resorted to glasses a month after the first surgery so am not sure how they had healed. All opinions experiences highly welcomed.

I am 4 weeks post prk, which has a similiar healing process as lasek. I still have ghosting in both eyes, although I'm seeing 20/20. They say 1 week for "functional" vision. I completely disagree with this statement because everyone heals differently and at a different rate. Besides what one might call functional vision another may not. I was able to drive after one week, but with great difficulty. I've been told and have read 4-6 weeks is a good time frame for great improvements for prk, lasek, and epi-lasek, although completed healing takes place at the six month mark. Dry eyes will also delay healing even futher. This is my situation. Do you have dry eyes? Make sure you lubricate your eyes very well and use a gel or ointment at night.
I use Genteal Gel.

I hope this helps, and remember you are still really eary post op to start worrying.

For your conforting words. My right eye is pretty bad, cannot see the clock. My left eye is better but also have difficulty reading the time. Am driving though. I did my surgery in the Uk and am dependant on the eye drops avlbl there viz. Gel Tears and Thera Tears for the day time, every two hours and at night LacriLube (yucky). Have my first Post op on the 24th (after 4 weeks), lets see how things develop till then.
