Gee, it's a lot to research and i've been thinking about doing the surgery for several years. I've recently had recommendations for a doctor who is using the Lasik CustomVue process. I've found a lot of ads but not a lot of hard data about the procedure using this product vs another lasik product. How do you reseach failure rates and dissatifaction rates of equipment? for doctors? I have to admit, the post op section of this board has been disheartening. Nobody wants to be blind or see flares or have flourscent haze all day long.

I've worn glasses (about 20/200 for both eyes with a some astigmatism) for four decades. I do tons of computer work all day long at varying distances from my eyes under strong florescent light. I'm also an avid recreational reader.

Right now I'm using progressive bifocals to deal with the various distances, but my neck is sure getting tired aiming for and holding the sweet spot for each device. Most of this stuff is rack mounted, so repositioning is out of the question.

Any advice appreciated. I earn my living with my eyes and I live to read. Is it worth the risk?

If you are nearsighted, you will still need glasses for your reading and computer work unless you elect to have only one eye done for monovision. Whats your pescription? Myopes will find they can read without correction and if their pescription is low, they can use the computer and do most things uncorrected. Seeing you use your eyes mainly for near, if your myopic, its to your advantage you can read without (reading)glasses
