I am having PRK done next THursday. I have heard mixed reviews about using MMC. My doctor suggested using it (I am -6, 2 diopters of astigmatism), but others have suggested waiting until corneal haze develops. I have read that it is uncertain if MMC causes corneal meltdown later.
Any thoughts?

I have communicated with a doctor who has used mitomycin c for 8 years on his PRK patients. No problems have developed.
I have communicated with a man who had PRK in 1998. He developed haze and was later treated with MMC and is doing well.
I was a high myope (-12.00) who had PRK in 1999. I was not treated with MMC and thankfully never developed haze. I did wear sunglasses outside after PRK and still do to hopefully delay cataract formation as I get older.
It is great to see patients researching their options in order to make as an informed decision as possible.
