My husband had a lasik consultation a few weeks ago. The doctors said that while he had thin corneas, they would still be able to treat him, however he would probably never be able to have an enhancement. He's got only one shot. His prescription is 8+ in both eyes, and I know he has some astigmatism as well, but I'm not sure about everything. I know his corneas were in the very low 500s. My question is whether he should go through with this now or wait for better technology. His vision is so bad that it would radically change his life. He does woodwork and electronics projects in his spare time and also rides a motorcycle - all things which would be greatly improved without glasses. He is very anxious and excited and really wants to go through with it. I understand that with new technology it may be possible to treat people with thinner corneas, but wouldn't that also mean that in the future he also may be able to have enhancements?
Thank you for your help.

Bad idea if lasik is a one shot because if he still needs glasses he will be unhappy. PRK will save alot of cornea and reduce the risk of ectasia but at his high myopia pescription, theres risk of haze. IOLs are a great option and if clear lens extraction is chosen, he will never have to worry about cateracts. Reccomended for those 40+ since you lose all accomodation.
