Concerns 8mm pupil -4.25 / -3.0 Myop less than 1 stigmatism in one eyes

I had a lasik evaluation at the TLC clinic in SLC 3 weeks ago. Their pupilometer read a 7mm and 6.7mm pupil using visx pupilometer I think.

I scheduled an appointment and looked more into pupil sizes again. I found that they were using the visx s4 and that the optical zone was 6.5, and this freaked me out and I cancelled the appointment.

I went to Dr. Hoops in SLC and received an evaluation. Their pupilometer read 8mm and 7.6, what a difference, I don't know if this is common to have this big of a difference or not.

The Dr. likes the Allegretto Wave which has an 8mm optical zone. Even being treated with the 8mm do I fall into a risk category or would this be the same as if I had 6.5 pupil under a 6.5 optical zone. Please direct me it is so hard to find truthful info on new lasik

The short answer is that any time the optical ablation zone is smaller than the size of the naturally dilated pupil in a low light environment, the risk of night vision problems is elevated, but not guaranteed.

We have a detailed article about the pupil size issue at http://www.usaeyes.org/lasik/faq/lasik-pupil-size.htm that you may find valuable.
