Quick question...

I'm currently in a spot where I must choose between 2 doctors to get my surgery done. doc A is more experienced but very expensive, while doc B is much more affordable, but has only done 1000 surgeries (compared to A who has done 30000) -both Docs are in same practice- I plan to go bladeless Lasik (using InterLase Laser_ and the impression Im getting is that this new surgery is all done via computers. If this is tru, how much of the surgery relies on the doctors actual experince and skill since it sounds like its all automated?

Any feedback would be appreciated!!!

No amount of technology will compensate for an inferior surgeon.

With 1,000 procedures, the less expensive doctor would have a significant amount of practical knowledge, however how many of these 1,000 were with the femtosecond laser (Intralase) creating the flap? How many were patients your age? Your occupation? Your refractive error? Your corneal thickness? Your pupil size? In other words, what is the doctor’s practical experience with a patient who has your needs? And of course, what were the patient outcomes?

You may find using out “50 Tough Questions For Your Lasik Doctor” on our website helpful in evaluating a potential surgeon.

Keep in mind that if you go discount and something goes wrong, you may never forgive yourself. Nobody wants to pay more than required for anything, but you are talking about microsurgery on your eyes.
